To be precise about what this is: we coat the paving, tile and stone around the pool. Not the pool shell, not the waterline tiles, not anything below water. The surface you walk on between the house and the water is the problem, and that is what we treat.
Why your deck is so hot
Two things make a Dubai pool deck punishing. The first is colour: charcoal porcelain, dark travertine and grey concrete all absorb most of the sunlight that lands on them. The second is thermal mass — stone and concrete store that heat all afternoon and keep radiating it long after the sun has moved off. A surface at 60 °C causes discomfort within a couple of seconds of contact and a light burn within a few more.
A high-albedo coating reflects most of the incoming solar radiation instead of absorbing it, and the deck stabilises 15–25 °C lower. In practice that is the difference between sprinting to the water and walking to it.
What we apply
A textured acrylic-cementitious cool deck system, tinted to a light shade, applied over existing sound paving. It goes on at 110 AED per m² of deck area on the Certified line.
- Textured, not smooth. The knockdown finish raises slip resistance when wet, which matters more around a pool than anywhere else in a villa.
- Chlorine and UV stable. It has to survive splash-out and direct sun without chalking.
- Goes over what you have. No demolition, no disposal, no replacement paving. A pool deck stays out of use for about 48 hours while it cures.
- Available in several light tones. Very light shades reflect the most but show dust; mid-tone sand and stone colours are the usual compromise.
When it is worth doing
- Dark paving. The darker the existing surface, the bigger the change.
- Children who use the pool unsupervised in summer. This is the most common reason clients ask.
- Paving that is sound but tired — the coating resurfaces as well as cools, and it is a fraction of the cost of relaying.
- Any deck where you have already tried and abandoned mats and rugs.
It is not worth doing on loose, drummy or cracked paving. A coating follows the substrate; if the tiles are lifting, fix that first or the finish will fail along the same lines. Our surveyor will say so on site rather than after.
Fitting it around the rest of the work
Deck coating runs on the same two-day visit as the rest. The crew splits: one team on the glass, one on the roof, one outside on the deck and facade. The only hard dependency in the schedule is the roof cure between coats, and the deck is finished well inside it.
If the pool itself is what costs you money, the measure that matters is the circulation pump — an inverter replacement is on the pricing page, and it is ranked against everything else on how to cut a DEWA bill.
